In April 2022, Havannah First School was created when Broadway East First School relocated to Newcastle Great Park and changed its name to reflect the new location. This move has been planned for a long time and we are delighted to now be in our wonderful, state of the art brand new school and grounds. We are still part of the Gosforth Schools' Trust and are part of the Gosforth three tier Pyramid.

Our FREE junior sessions are a safe space for children aged between 5-11 years to come and socialise, play freely, learn about the world around them and take part in activities like;
- arts and crafts
- cooking
- gardening
- group games
- sports
The sessions are led by the children, they choose what they would like to do in their youth clubs and plan their activities.
Snacks and drinks are available in all sessions.

Hawthorn is a continuously improving school with children making Outstanding progress between Reception and Year 6.
We are proud to be part of the nationally famous In Harmony project, every child in the school learns an orchestral instrument and we have our very own Symphony Orchestra.

We aim to provide a safe stimulating and caring environment where children and their families feel welcome and valued.

A parent and toddler group is a welcoming and friendly group of adults. This includes mothers, fathers, childminders or carers.
They all come together in their own community with their children who are under the age of 5, including those with special needs.
Parent and toddler groups offer play opportunities for children from birth to 5 year old, as well as an opportunity to mix with others. They also offer support to adults and a break from the normal routines of the day.


Heaton Community Centre is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation 1161406. We offer full day care places, a Nursery, an Out of School Club with Holiday Play Scheme, Onsite and Offsite Crèche Services.
We follow Early Years Foundation Stage led by childrenβs interests and development. We are part of Sure Start East and link families into Sure Start services. We consult with parents and complete online learning journals to track progress. Healthy snacks are included in both our childcare services and our stay and play sessions.

Here at HCC we provide a safe space for the children aged 5-10 years to explore and join in with activities that interest them and encourage them to try new activities. We provide a variety of activities including sports, active play, cookery, crafts, imaginative play and drawing. We have 2 large halls and an outdoor playground, which the children are allowed free-flow play in.


Heaton Nursery is a private registered day nursery school, which has been established since 1970 and caters for children from birth to 11 years. The nursery is situated 10 minutes from Newcastle City Centre with easy access from all areas. The nursery is one of four privately owned provisions.


We provide a safe and stimulating environment for children's learning and development. The setting implements the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and ensures all children have equal access and opportunity to actively learn and develop. Outdoor access is available all year round to extend experiences. We focus on the indivdual childs strengths and support and encourage further learning opportunities building on confidence and skills.

These are great sessions if you are worried about what a child is eating and would like to get some support to encourage them to try a wider range of foods.
The Heritage group meet every Tuesday term time.

Pathways to Working Life
This pathway is for young people with a learning disability and/or difficulty who would like to develop their skills and progress into employment whilst working on core skills such as maths and English along with employment skills. The course will help you with your personal social and economic welfare, and you will receive pastoral support to help you fulfil your aspirations and reach your goals.
