Free, safe, confidential support for young people
Children and young people in Newcastle and Gateshead can now get help from mental health counsellors using a free online service supported by the NHS.
Kooth.com is an award-winning online counselling and support service which is now available to all young people in Newcastle and Gateshead aged 11-18 years.
Headliners (UK) is a well respected charity that supports disadvantaged young people to have a voice. Headliners (UK) has a 27-year track record of inspiring children and young people to investigate and challenge the world around them. We work across the UK providing personal development, multi-media journalism, participation and volunteering programmes. We have a dedicated team in the North East based out of our Newcastle office providing programmes of activities to young people all over the North East. |
The service supports young people living in Newcastle, through a range of projects offering holistic support, information and advice. All interventions are delivered with the Barnardo’s Trauma Informed practice. Projects include: The Independence Project: Young People aged 12-18 years. 1:1 support, for up to 6months. Support offered at early help level, around emotional wellbeing through a social prescribing model. |
The garden works with nature to create a great place for people and wildlife to enjoy. The garden is about our community, whether in Scotswood and Benwell or the wider area, and we welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in our work. The service is an abstinent based supported housing service and national drug treatment organisation and we offer abstinence based accommodation in Tyneside for those in recovery for substance misuse. Our Supported Housing is delivered in partnership with local housing providers and offers people with substance misuse issues a structured package of support. There are 2 semi-independent houses in Tyneside with a total of 18 beds. The sites are staffed during the day and offered a tailored package of one-to-one care and group work.
Welcome to the website of Northumbria Army Cadet Force (ACF). The ACF is one of the UK's oldest, largest and most successful youth organisations. Sponsored by the Ministry of Defence it has a long and proud history of preparing young people to achieve the most out of their lives. Boys and and girls aged between 12 and 18 are eligible to join. They participate in a varied programme of military training which includes map reading and shooting, sport and adventurous activities including the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme.
The Charity Patchwork was set up in order to help and educate young people between the ages of 8 and 25 years resident in the West End of Newcastle Upon Tyne and the surrounding area. This includes those who are involved in the Criminal Justice System or at risk of becoming involved in the Criminal Justice System, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or political, religious or other opinion.
The Newcastle Careers and Guidance Team offers impartial and confidential careers information, advice and support to young people up to the age of 19 without an Education Health and Care Plan (EHC plan) if they live in Newcastle or attend a Newcastle school. (Please note, young people with an EHC plan are supported by their SEN caseworker)
ACANE exists to support the settlement of asylum seekers and refugees from the African continent, who have been dispersed to the North East region and Tyneside, in particular, and to actively promote their integration with the host community so that they can lead full and active lives, and participate in and contribute to the community on an equal basis.

The Nystagmus Network is a registered charity in England and Wales supporting people living with nystagmus. Nystagmus is a complex eye condition, characterised by involuntary movements of the eye. The eyes appear to wobble or flicker from side to side, up and down or round and round. Nystagmus causes impaired vision, affecting the ability to focus, speed and depth perception and facial recognition. At least 1 in 1,000 people are born with nystagmus and many more acquire the condition later in life.
Today, 10 children and young people in the UK will hear the shocking news that they have cancer.
Treatment normally starts immediately, is often given many miles from home and can last for up to three years. Being diagnosed with cancer is a frightening experience and the emotional, practical and financial implications of treatment are intensely challenging for the whole family.

Sibs is a UK charity for siblings who may be finding it hard to cope with a brother or sister who is disabled, has special educational needs or a serious long term condition.
It is the only UK charity representing the needs of over half a million young siblings and over one and a half million adult siblings.
Sibs can give information and advice both over the phone and online. Sibs also runs YoungSibs, an online only support service for siblings in the UK aged 7 to 17.
