Parenting
Whether you’re a first-time carer, or a practised parent, Newcastle is bursting with activities and support.
Tick one worry off your list with a course on keeping your newborn safe. Get closer to nature with the kids at a community garden. Or find other parents going through the same experiences you are. What will you find?
You will find a whole host of exciting opportunities for advice, fun and friendship.
Among the many listings are;
- Workshops for new and expectant parents
- Ways to spend time as a family
- Entertaining things for your children to get involved in
- Accessible childcare
- educational services
- Organisations supporting those with specific needs
We know that parenting is a big responsibility so here are a few bits of advice to keep you going:
- You’re allowed to celebrate the little wins. Perfection is unrealistic… progress is just fine!
- Don’t feel like you’re alone facing the challenges. If you can’t shake the feeling, seek out a community who can put you right (the Directory is a great place to start).
- It’s OK to ask for help if things get hard.
Our community hubs deliver courses to support your parenting needs. These range from a 3 week basic course to a longer 10 week programme. Find you hub using the postcode checker on our home page
